Link Engine

Surfing in the information.

The UKIS link engine automatically creates information networks by using hyperlinks. The user is able to move intuitively in the information landscape. Documents are linked the moment they are accessed. The hyperlinks (UKIS-Knowledgelink) are placed in UKIS only temporarily, i.e. only for the time period the document remains in storage. UKIS uses syntax patterns to automatically recognise where a link should be placed – e.g. by using the syntax of a text mentioning laws or regulations.

By using converted documents as the standard display formats (DXF, PDF), UKIS is able to place hyperlinks in existing documents or drawings (e.g. Office, DWG, DGN, DXF, etc.). With UKIS, it is possible to link and network existing documents and drawings without changing the originals.

UKIS offers the integration of legal texts and also the integration of government regulations and industrial norms (e.g. ISO or DIN norms). The text mentioning a law in a document will be linked automatically to the corresponding text portion in the legal database. The database source could be either commercial databases available from publishing houses (e.g. UB Media, Beuth-Verlag, Juris GmbH) or text that is publicly available on the internet.

By using the technology of dynamic hyperlink placement, UKIS creates a contextual information network in which the user can „surf“ through text documents, database information and other forms of information, such as CAD or CAE documents.
